Died: June 14, 2013.
Age: 42 years old.
Unit:  USMC - Quantico, Virginia.

Birth: Oct. 26, 1970, Abington, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA​

Death: Jun. 14, 2013, Stafford, Stafford County, Virginia, USA

Major Charles J. Koch, U.S. Marine Corps, 42, of Stafford, Va., formerly of Toms River, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, in Stafford, Va.  Charles was born in Abington, PA on Oct. 26, 1970 and was raised in Toms River, graduating from Toms River High School North and Ocean County College.  

Major Koch proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years.  He graduated with honors from the Defense Language Institute and served four years as a Spanish Linguist/Intelligence Analyst at Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion, Guantanamo Bay and the National Security Agency.  He then graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC through the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and served three years as Adjutant at the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, NC.  He was Head, Central Administration Office, Programs and Resources at Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington D.C. Metro Area before serving as Manpower Plans/Administration Officer at 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Miramar, CA.  

Charles served one tour in Iraq from 2006 to 2007.  He graduated with honors with a master's degree in Manpower Systems from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA and was Executive Assistant at Joint Task Force, Guantanamo, for seven months.  Major Koch was stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico since April of 2009. 

Major Koch is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Jennifer (Muller) Koch; his cherished children, Sydney (10) and Grayson (5); his parents, Charles H. and Carol Ann Koch; sisters and brother, Carolann Wierdo and her husband Chris, Susan Anderson and her husband Andrew, and Jeffrey Koch; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Irene Muller; brother-in-law, Timothy Muller and his companion Danielle Williams; and many caring nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
