SSgt. Carson Morris Jr.
Age: 35 years old.
Hometown: Freehold, New Jersey.
Died: April 23, 2011.
Unit: Army, assigned to the 7th Transportation Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC.

Staff Sgt. Carson Morris  was born Aug. 20, 1975, in Barbados to Eula O. Morris and Carson M. Morris of Freehold, N.J.

Carson attended Freehold Borough High School and graduated in 1993. Shortly after graduating, Carson joined the U.S. Army and served for 17 years. During his 17-year tenure, he served as a mechanic with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 184th Ordnance Company in Darmstadt, Germany; as a recovery vehicle operator with the Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2/11th Armor Cavalry Regiment on Fort Irwin, Calif.; as a mechanic with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 158th Aviation in Giebelsdt, Germany; as a senior mechanic with the 44th Chemical Company on Fort Hood, Texas; as a training instructor with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 187th Ordnance Battalion on Fort Jackson, S.C.; as a battalion motor sergeant with the 41st Signal Detachment in Camp Coiner, South Korea; maintenance support team non-commissioned officer in charge with the 503rd Maintenance Company on Fort Bragg and as the battalion intelligence non-commissioned officer in charge with the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 7th Transportation Battalion on Fort Bragg.

On July 8, 2006, Carson and Tarika were joined in Holy matrimony in Augusta, Ga.

He is survived by his wife, Tarika; four sons, Jalen, Ephraim, Jaden and Ian Morris; his daughter, Naja; his mother, Eula O. Morris of Freehold; his father, Carson M. Morris of Freehold; his brothers, Paul Jones of Ontario, Canada, and Brian Edghill of Freehold; his sister, Sandra and husband Jeff Padmore of Boston; his sister, Signa Valerie Jones-Friday and husband Bernard Friday of Ontario; his sister, Sonia Schwartz of Freehold; his sister, Nancy Burnham of Barbados; his sister, Cherryann Brome of Barbados; his sister, Shernel Morris and husband Sye Strong of Freehold; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.
