Sgt Tristan Howard Altman Southworth
Hometown: Mine Hill, New Jersey/Danville, Vermont, U.S. Age: 21 years old. Died: August 22, 2010 in Operation Enduring Freedom. Unit: Army, Unit: 3rd Company, 172nd Inf, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Vermont National Guard. Birth: Oct. 19, 1988, New Jersey, USA Sgt. Tristan H. Southworth, 21, of West Danville, Vt. died Aug. 22 at Paktika, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked their unit with small arms and rocket propelled grenade fire. Assigned to the 172nd Infantry, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Jericho, Vt. Tristan enjoyed all aspects of life. He loved to be around family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved children and German shepherds. He had a special love for the game of baseball and a strong need to serve his country. Tristan is survived by his mom and dad, Julie and Michael Southworth; brothers Matt and Robert Southworth; grandparents Zollie and Maren Altman of South Wheelock; Keith and Kathleen Southworth of West Pawlet; aunts, uncles and cousins, who held a special place in his heart.
